Weekend...fasting month...a great time to stay in bed. Sleep until noon, working on my project and prepare food for iftar in the afternoon.
Today is first day of Ramadhan for me and some of people around the world. I still have one more day on the course and in the afternoon we have iftar at Belanak with Wira's family. Blewah is on the menu with dendeng, ribs sour soup (asem-asem iga) and cucumber salad as our main dish. There are also cookies, breads and traditional snacks available on the table :)
Iftar |'if,tär| (n): the meal eaten by Muslims by sunset during Ramadhan. (Dictionary on Mac) Today I attend 2 days course on difficult airway management. A little skill touch for me as an anaesthesiologist. I have to got up early and go through the Jakarta's traffic jam.
The machine stills hot. I have finished 270 circles that ready to be joint for my project. Still need about 50 more circles. Can't wait to see it done :)
Back to my forgotten granny square blanket project. Hopefully can finish it before Ied. It can be my project for Ramadhan.
My niece, Millie, spent two night in my home. She is playing with Kaysan. She also learns how to climb the mango tree in the yard.
This is our grill master yesterday. Mas Didit really enjoy grill our menu. He also gave us some tips.
Chicken teriyaki on skewers ready to be grilled. Sausage with mushroom and pineapple, chicken teriyaki and shrimp are on the grill menu today. Ice Thai tea for beverages. Rice and roasted potato wedges for the side dish. And sunny side up pudding for dessert. We are having fun today. Can't wait to go picnic and have some grilled food.
If you go to the traditional market, you can get fresh vegetables, fruits and meats with cheaper price. The vegetables, fruit and spices above prepared for tomorrow's family gathering. We are planning to have BBQ as the menu.
Today we are busy on preparing the foods. My older sister and I put meat in skewer until midnight. Hope everybody like it tomorrow :D Kids from Taman Baca Garasi are welcoming the Ramadhan with a story telling. More than 100 kids gathered in Mesjid Al Jabbar and they are really enjoying it.
Today we make some preparation for family gathering on Sunday. We take some stuff to a shelter and then take Kaysan and Bagas to the athletic practice. Drop my sister at Tip Top Supermarket and borrow the griller and then take 2 bucket of mangoes from in-laws...free of charge :).
We really enjoy the mangoes. Ripe and sweet Indramayu's mangoes fresh from the tree :) Today I'm trying out C25K app in my iPhone. Hope this lazy butt and the weather support this motivation for the next 8 weeks. The weather this morning was really nice.
Another gathering is happening today. It's Perdatin Jaya Family Gathering. This time the venue on Anjungan Sumatera Barat at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). We cycling around TMII and than we're having games and foods.
It's been a while since the last time I ride my bike. After two days get up early and going out, I spend the day sleeping :) Today we're having gathering with the ex-neighbours where I grew up. I lived in a small complex that has only 10 houses, 5 duplex housing and 1 boarding house for nurses and 2 boarding houses for nursing students. In 19 years living there, we had a really closed neighbourhood. Where ever you turn around, you can see Amira's toys :) Today in between my iPad, phone and inhaler, there's a little giraffe laying around :)
I wake up this morning to received a bad news. A dear friend just passed away a few hours earlier. My heart feels like stop a beat or two. I still can't believe the news and don't know what to do. I contact a friend of mine to pass the news and we plan to meet up to go to the funeral home. Seeing her lying there still doesn't make me believe this is happening. She's only 31 years old. Such a young age and so many things can happen in her life. But I believe God love her more than us so she invite her to visit heaven earlier.
Good bye Puteri. I wish you happy there with the baby. May God grant you forgiveness for all the mistakes and khusnul khotimah. I drank to much green tea yesterday and end up I can't sleep until early in the morning. And I spent most of the day to pay up the sleepless night.
The theme of today is meeting friends for silaturahim. It's been a while since I gathered with my high school friends. I met Intan more frequently last few months since she is helping me on a project. So today we decided to meet up at Kota Kasablanka in our favourite restaurant (since we used to eat there :D). We are sharing news and talking about everything. After that we move up to other place that serve dessert and drinks. We share plenty of story.
Around six p.m., we are ready to go home. Well...not for me. I had another meet up with Vea, Alin & Tutut. The big rain and traffic jam cannot prevent us to meet. We are sharing another stories and talk about everything. Oh...how I missed talking with you guys... This is our first time harvesting jambu air from the tree in our front yard. It is not ripe yet but we can't wait to taste it. We plant the tree 12 years ago but it always failed to bear the fruit. At this time this jambu air will be nice for rujak. Jambu air also known as water apple has white or pink flesh with mildly fragrant and sweetish flavour.
Today is the third garage sale held in Taman Baca Garasi. This time, friends from Uhamka are helping us to run the garage sale. We got the stuffs from friends and family. It start at 1 p.m. and ended at 5.30 p.m. The crowd come from our neighbourhood and most of the buyers are woman and children. Well...this time we don't have to many stuffs for man. About 80% stuffs we gather have a new home now. Hopefully it will be useful. Wait for our next garage sale in a few months :)
Today is a busy Saturday. We are preparing the garage sale for tomorrow. We also going out for lunch with my mom's birthday with her best friends. After that Wira and I pick up some stuff for tomorrow and at night we go to a friend's wedding. Such a tiring but fun day.
Krupuk is one of Indonesian snack. Some of them made out of flour and when you bite it, it will make a crackling sound. Another variant of krupuk made of fish, shrimps, cow skins, or melinjo nuts. It's easy to get krupuk in Indonesia. You can eat it with main dish such as soto and nasi uduk or just as a snack. My favourite is krupuk emping made of melinjo nut.
