Today was a one freezing day in January, and we decided to visit Schloss Sanssouci in Potsdam. It takes about an hour to get there from my apartment. First we took U-bahn to Alexanderplatz and then switch to RE train to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Since we already used monthly ticket, we just need to buy the extension ticket that cost €1.5. And from Potsdam Hauptbahnhof we change to bus (695/606) to get to Schloss Sanssouci. We used ticket for group that cost €9.5 for all day long.
In winter, day is shorter than night. Because we all went to Sanssouci around 12 from Berlin, we didn't have much time to see around. Sunset will be around 4 pm. So we take our own tour in there based on the map that I bought at the gate (€2). You can get inside the Schloss and there's another cost for it. But we passed that part. We continued to walk around the schloss and then toward the park and Neue Schloss.
There's not much to see during winter, because all the statues are covered with wooden box, the fountain is frozen, the trees are bold. It surely a lot prettier during spring or summer. But it has it's own beauty during winter.
It almost sunset when reach Neue Schloss, and we already walk for about an hour. We decided to take the bus back to town and find something to eat. After that we walking around the city and try Potsdam old tram.
They give us two plans in the map that we bought. One is short tour that takes about an hour and the other is 4 hour tour. With 4 hour tour, you'll be able to see almost all part of Sanssouci Park.
We decided we need to visit this place again during spring or summer...
