Since I knew that Wira will be placed in Khon Kaen, Thailand, I start to looking places to visit. I I found an application for iPhone that quite nice to have if we plan to go to or stay at Thailand. The application called iThai - Thailand Official Guide. It’s a free app :). And when we know our friend will come to Bangkok and then my sister 2 weeks after that, we start to look where we would like to go in Bangkok. And then I decided I want to visit Chatuchak Weekend Market, Floating Market, Ayutthaya and Jim Thompson House Museum. That was some places you can go if you stay 10 days in Thailand from iThai version. Since I already visit Grand Palace and lot of temples on my first visit, so I didn’t plan to go back there. From 4 places I planned, so far only 3 that really happening. Floating Market just to far away and Wira not really sure how to get there. Finally I had a chance to visit Jim Thompson House Museum. We arrived there around 4 pm. You can get there by taking BTS to National Stadion. From there just look at the information board and it will show you where you have to go to. From National Stadion BTS station, you have to walk about 400 meters to reach Jim Thompson House Museum. Entry ticket for adult 100 THB and for children, student/international student 50 THB. Since both of us still have valid ISIC (International student card), we only have to pay 50 THB each. After we buy ticket we will go to ticket check-in place. In here they will ask which language you want to used, because they will arrange you a guide with the language you requested. You can choose English, Japan, and other language and of course in Thai. The tour will take around 35 minutes. You can’t take photos inside the main house but you can take photos outside. The guide will explain about the rooms in main house, some paintings, sculpture and about Jim Thompson as a person. We got a really nice guide who speaks really good English.
I really satisfied with the place and I recommended this place for you to visit if you had a chance to go to Bangkok. In Jim Thompson House Museum you can find one main house that made of six traditional Thai house, 4 smaller houses for display some paintings and other things, a restaurant, a souvenir shop and library. You can see mix culture between Thai and China. You can even find one thing that come from Indonesia. The place look so comfortable, surrounded by beautiful & green garden. I can even pictured myself sitting in one of the chair and reading my book while enjoying cha yen. It will be nice. Address: 6 Soi Kaseman 2, Rama 1 Road. Bangkok. Open everyday 9 a.m - 5 p.m.
